Hello Students!
Good job on the last question. Most of you "far from these thingsfigured out that Procol Harum "borrowed" the melody for Whiter Shade of Pale from Johann Sebastian Bach. The famous organ solo was played on a Hammond M-102 organ. I learned that the band got their name from someone's cat, and the words come from the Latin words procul harun and mean "far from these things." The new question is About Beethoven's 9th symphony. Listen to these clips: (you only have to listen to a couple minutes) https://youtu.be/rOjHhS5MtvA?t=3416 https://youtu.be/rOjHhS5MtvA?t=3702 Here are the questions: 1. What church song uses this melody? 2. What disability did Beethoven suffer from? 3. Who wrote the poem "Ode to Joy" that Beethoven used in this symphony. email your answers to [email protected] or send them to your teacher and they can forward them to me. Happy listening! Mr. Rau
